<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery with high-temperature cycle life and high-temperature storage characteristics by making an assist output compatible with a regeneration output even in case of one with an opposed area of a cathode and an anode made increased. <P>SOLUTION: With the alkaline storage battery, a ratio Y/X of a surface area Y (cm<SP>2</SP>) of a hydrogen storage alloy anode 10 to a nominal battery capacity X (Ah) is not less than 120 cm<SP>2</SP>/Ah (Y/X=120 cm<SP>2</SP>/Ah), and at the same time, the hydrogen storage alloy has a crystal structure of its alloy main phase of Ce<SB>2</SB>Ni<SB>7</SB>, and contains at least rare earth elements, nickel, magnesium, and aluminum, with stored hydrogen equilibrium pressure (Pa) of 0.02 MPa or more and 0.15 MPa or less when a hydrogen storage volume (H/M (an atomic ratio)) of the hydrogen storage alloy at 40°C is 0.5, and a hysteresis (Ln(Pa/Pd)) to release hydrogen equilibrium pressure (Pd) of 0.05 MPa or more and 0.15 MPa or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
