PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically switch the irradiation state of a headlight and prevent the execution of unrequired switching by detecting the existence of a preceding vehicle. SOLUTION: When ECU 20 detects that a blinker 12L or 12R is operated based on a signal from a blinker switch 13 (S4: Yes, S5: Yes), it retains the present irradiation state of the headlights 10L, 10R. Thereby, even when a light source such as a tail lamp of the preceding vehicle is temporarily out of a detection range of an image sensor 19 caused by the fact that an own vehicle is turned to the right and left, uncomfortable dazzling is given to the preceding vehicles such as other preceding vehicles and an on-coming vehicle existing at the right and left-turning sides and the unrequired switching of the beam state having fear of erroneous recognition as passing shot can be prevented.
