PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent image quality with suppressed occurrence of color mixture due to mixture of information charges respectively corresponding to different colors while being located horizontally and adjacently to each other, in an operation of adding the information charges of a plurality of horizontal pixels and a high-speed horizontal transfer operation in a horizontal CCD shift register of a CCD image sensor. SOLUTION: An impurity concentration for forming a barrier region with shallow channel potential in a storage region and barrier region constituting each transfer stage of the horizontal CCD shift register is separately set in a body, which is composed of the transfer stages connected to output ends of a vertical CCD shift register, and in a dummy part which connects between the body and an output and whose width is gradually narrowly formed toward the output part, so as to differently set barrier potential. The barrier potential is set higher in the body so as to suppress overflow of the information charges during an addition operation to an adjacent well. A fringe field is increased in the dummy part where a transfer length tends to be longer, while suppressing the barrier potential so as to secure transfer efficiency during high-speed horizontal transfer.
