PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control, in accordance with a selected mode, whether to transmit image data on which processing has been performed for conversion into image data of a format according to the Internet FAX standard while attaching the image data to electronic mail. SOLUTION: A communication apparatus comprises: an input means for inputting image data; a transmission means for transmitting the image data while attaching the image data to electronic mail; a processing means for performing processing on the image data for conversion into image data of a format according to the Internet FAX standard; a selection means for selecting either a first transmission mode or a second transmission mode as a transmission mode for transmitting the image data; and a control means which performs control to transmit image data on which processing by the processing means has not been performed, while attaching the image data to the electronic mail in the case that the first transmission mode is selected by the selection means, or to transmit image data on which processing by the processing means has been performed, while attaching the image data to the electronic mail in the case that the second transmission mode is selected by the selection means.
