To package filled trays with a sealed covering film, the trays (1) are placed on a feed conveyor (4) in the measured intervals (12) to be transferred to a gathering conveyor (3) at the correct intervals (11). A sensor (10) is at the feed conveyor to register the tray dimensions, linked to a control to measure the length of each tray for its height and/or position of the leading edge to be computed.
