The controller has a U-shaped bimetallic strip (20) arranged on a printed circuit board (14), and a contact arm carrying a contact arranged behind a permanent magnet (30). A flexible conductor is connected to the arm, and a terminal strip is provided for current entry, where the board is arranged in a housing (10). The bimetallic and terminal strips, magnet, contact, and a reference value adjuster (50) are arranged, such that the height of the housing is formed less than 25 millimeter. The strip (20) with its adjusting arm is guided into a connecting unit arranged at the adjuster. An independent claim is also included for a magnetic snap system for an ambient temperature controller.
