An in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display device is provided to prevent color shift by offsetting birefringence according to a liquid crystal align direction and performing color compensation by symmetrizing liquid crystal align directions of a first liquid crystal cell and a second liquid crystal cell which are overlapped with each other, and obtain a wide viewing angle by realizing a two-domain effect by symmetrizing main viewing angle directions of the first liquid crystal cell and the second liquid crystal cell. A first liquid crystal cell(111) includes first upper and lower substrates bonded with each other, a first liquid crystal layer interposed between the first upper and lower substrates, first pixel electrodes(117) and first common electrodes(124) parallel with each other on the first lower substrate. A second liquid crystal cell(211) includes second upper and lower substrates bonded with each other, a second liquid crystal layer interposed between the second upper and lower substrates, second pixel electrodes(217) and second common electrodes(224) parallel with each other on the second lower substrate, wherein the second pixel electrodes and the second common electrodes form a symmetrical structure with the first pixel electrodes and the first common electrodes. An adhesive is formed on the first upper substrate of the first liquid crystal cell and the second lower substrate of the second liquid crystal cell. A first polarizing plate(301) and a second polarizing plate(302) are attached to outsides of the first liquid crystal cell and the second liquid crystal cell, making polarizing shafts orthogonal. |
