PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of refining insulation oil by a general-purpose absorbent and simple facilities, concerning the insulation oil for a transformer and a capacitor in which PCB is mixed in low density. SOLUTION: Trace PCB in the insulation oil can be effectively absorbed and removed by removing moisture in the insulation oil beforehand, and later, making it in contact with an active alumina system absorbent. Trace moisture in the insulation oil can be absorbed and removed by a silica gel system absorbent. Namely, in the method of refining the insulation oil containing a low density of PCB, the content of PCB is reduced to the extent of 0.5 ppm or less by supplying the insulation oil 21 to an absorbent container 3 having a dehydrator as a first layer 11, at least one out of active alumina based, active alumina silica gel based, or active magnesium silicate based absorbent as a second layer 12.
