A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display module including the same are provided to surround a lamp with transparent lamp holders for expanding a light transmission area, thereby preventing generation of dark parts at both sides of a display area of a display panel. A backlight unit includes a lamp(170) formed of Niobium electrodes(174) for generating light through an enlarged light transmission area, and transparent lamp holders(172) formed of transparent rubber silicon materials at both ends of the lamp for expanding the light transmission area to lamp holder areas, which are not overlapped by the electrodes. |
