METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RECEIVING PAGING MESSAGE IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for receiving paging messages in a mobile communication system are provided to combine only paging message including the same contents among paging messages transmitted from neighboring cells by using a scrambling code, thereby improving a paging message reception success rate of UE(User Equipment). A method for receiving paging messages comprises the following steps of: enabling UE(User Equipment)(505) located in a first cell within a first paging area to receive system information received from a base station of the first cell; obtaining a scrambling code for the paging message of the first paging area from the system information(560); enabling the UE to receive a signal including the paging messages from at least one cell including the first cell; and descrambling the received signal by using the scrambling code for the paging message in order to obtain the paging message.
