The apparatus (1) has two cash processing units that perform cash deposit transactions for receiving cash e.g. coin, from a user, and processing the cash to determine a value of the cash. A controller is coupled to the units to detect an action of the user using a user interface unit. The controller controls one processing unit to initiate and start performing one transaction in response to detecting a user action. The controller controls another unit to initiate and start performing another transaction during performance of former transaction in response to detecting another user action. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling a cash deposit apparatus.
