An apparatus for treating water is provided to remove completely and effectively bacteria from a filtering unit, even without using powerful chemicals such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid. A strong acidic water generator(17) includes an electrolytic tank having an anode room and a cathode room demarcated by an ion-permeable membrane, anode and cathode respectively disposed in the anode and cathode rooms, and a voltage applying unit for applying DC voltage between the anode and the cathode. A strong acidic water input passage(18) connects the strong acidic water generator and a reverse osmotic membrane module(2) to flow the strong acidic water into the reverse osmotic membrane module. Electrometers(V1,V5) meters the oxidation-reduction potential of the strong acidic water passing through the reverse osmotic membrane module. |
