The invention relates to a printing mechanism the printing head (1) of which is applied at a generally constant pressure against a surface of an object to be printed. To this end both the printing head (1) a nd the pressure cylinder (6) are mounted on pivotable levers (2, 7, 8) connected to each other by springs (9, 13). Said printing mechanism ma y be used especially in postal franking machines.
