The present invention is to provide such a liquid crystal composition that satisfies plural characteristic features selected from a wide temperature range of a nematic phase, a low viscosity, an appropriate optical anisotropy, a large negative dielectric anisotropy and a large specific resistance. The liquid crystal composition of the invention contains, as a first component, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by Formula (1-1) to (1-4); contains, as a second component, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by Formula (2-1) to (2-3); and has a negative dielectric anisotropy.
