DICTIONARY REPORT PROVIDING APPARATUS HAVING CAMERA PART AND PROVIDING METHOD THEREOF

A portable terminal with a camera unit and a method for offering dictionary information thereof are provided to offer dictionary information on an inquired word on a preview screen during a focusing process before taking a picture and to offer the dictionary information by recognizing characters of a focus frame area only including the search word, thereby remarkably reducing an amount of processing data. An image obtained from a camera is provided on a preview screen before taking a picture. If a focusing key is inputted while the preview screen is provided, a focus frame for displaying a focusing area is supplied. An image of the focus frame area is obtained, and a character is recognized to extract an inquired word. Dictionary information of the extracted word is retrieved and displayed on the preview screen provided before taking the picture.
