In a universal joint of the kind wherein a rubber disc 7 is clamped or bonded at its inner and outer peripheries to coupling rings 5, 6, a reinforcing inlay 8 of woven textile, plastic or wire is folded over near the inner and outer edges of the disc to strengthen the latter. As shown the reinforcing inlay is folded over reinforcing rings 9, 10. In Fig. 1 (not shown) the rings 9, 10 are omitted and the clamping bolts pass through holes in the rubber disc and reinforcing inlay. In Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) the rubber disc is bonded to the inner and outer coupling rings and is provided with two reinforcing inlays which are folded over individual or common reinforcing rings. |
