Misalignment of a conveyer belt 5 is corrected automatically by means of bell-crank levers 1, which are pivoted at 8 to a spreader member 3 supported between rope side frames 6, one arm of each lever 1 being provided with a roller 4 which engages the edge of the belt and the other arm being pivoted at 9 to a belt supporting idler assembly 2, so that when the belt wanders towards the right, for example, to the position shown, the levers 1 pivot clockwise, thereby pivoting the idler assembly anticlockwise and causing the belt to return to its aligned position. Springs 7 urge the rollers 4 against the edge of the belt and in a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), stops are provided on the spreader member 3 to limit inward travel of the levers 1.
