摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent uneven distribution of mercury by suppressing a reduction in temperature of a gap between an end face of a lamp tube and an electrode of a fluorescent lamp used as a backlight of a display device. <P>SOLUTION: In a fluorescent lamp comprising a U-shaped tube or straight tube type fluorescent lamps disposed adjacent and parallel to each other, at least one of end portions that respectively incorporate electrodes via feeder lines introduced from both end faces of the lamp tube is bent. The electrode in the bent end portion and the electrode in the other end portion or the electrode of the other fluorescent lamp are disposed to face toward opposite directions. An inner end portion on the high temperature side to be a discharge surface of one of the electrodes and an outer end face on the low temperature side that is opposed to the end face of the lamp tube of the other electrode with a gap therebetween are disposed close to each other, and these end portions are held by an elastic holding material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
