PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily recognize a person in a photographing frame, a person outside the photographing frame, the direction of the excluded person, etc. from a photographed body side in a state that a photographing content cannot be accurately grasped by a finder, etc. of an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with an imaging system which includes a CCD 43 which photographs a second image frame which is wider than a first image frame performing image recording, a lens optical system 42, etc.; a key input unit 57 which sets the number of photographing persons; an image processing unit 55 and a control unit 52 which discriminate whether objects of the set number of persons are in the first imaging frame if it is discriminate that they are not there, further discriminate whether the objects of the set number of persons are in the second image frame or not, and if the set number of persons are in the second image frame, detect the direction of the photographing objects out of the first image frame; and indicator units 58 (13a to 13h, 18a to 18e) which report the direction of the detected photographing object.
