PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor stopping method of an optical disk device with which even when a wobble signal cannot be obtained normally due to abnormality of the optical disk and the spindle motor cannot be stopped, high speed reverse rotation of the spindle motor is prevented without adding circuits, and the spindle motor can be stopped. SOLUTION: Even when the wobble signal Sw cannot be obtained normally during stop processing of the optical disk, if a first elapse time T1 elapses by a prescribed time Tc, a control part 20 transmits a spindle stop command Cs to a DSP 22, so that the high speed reverse rotation of the spindle motor 26 is prevented, and the spindle motor 26 can be stopped. Further, since the processing is performed in the control part 20, addition of new circuits are not needed, and increase in costs of parts and restriction of space are not caused.
