PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimal method for repairing or replacing a mechanically retained vane assembly wherein an outer base is prone to breakage. SOLUTION: The method for repairing/replacing the mechanically retained vane includes a step for forming an oversized cavity 50 in a support structure 52, a step for inserting a flared end 18 of the vane 22 in the oversized cavity 50, and a step for inserting a wedge 70 for mechanically retaining the flared end 18 of the vane 22 in the oversized cavity 50.
