PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a concentrated composition of dampening water for lithographic printing which enables attainment of the same effect as obtained on the occasion of adding isopropyl alcohol (IPA), such as an improvement in the wettability to a hydrophilic nonimage area of a printing plate surface, lessens foaming and enables easy adjustment of a supply and prevention of excessive emulsification of ink and staining of a feed water roller, on the occasion when printing work is executed, and moreover which causes no problem about the quality of printed matter, such as falling-off of an image part in printing, even on a printing plate for CTP whereon the image part is relatively liable to be eroded by the dampening water. SOLUTION: The concentrated composition of the dampening water for lithographic printing contains 0.1-15 mass% of at least one kind of compound expressed by general formula (1). In the general formula (1), R<SP>1</SP>denotes an alkyl group the number of hydrogen or carbon atoms of which is 1 to 4.
