PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water purification system which can purify water to be treated by bringing pollutants in the water to be treated into an efficient contact with the reaction surface of a photocatalyst. SOLUTION: While shining light on a fibrous cylindrical jacket 19 supporting the photocatalyst 20, the water to be treated and purified water 12a are sent into the cylindrical jacket 19. When the water to be treated and purified water 12a permeates the cylindrical jacket 19 to flow outside, the pollutants in the water to be treated and purified water 12a are brought into contact with the photocatalyst 20 to be purified.
