A toy vehicle (10) is provided for launching comprising a body (12) with a chamber (18). The chamber (18) has an opening (36). The chamber (18) releasably holds a power source (e.g. fluid) under pressure. A covering mechanism (20) is disposed adjacent the chamber (18), and is biased to a first position to cover the opening (36). The covering mechanism (20) is movable to a second position for allowing the power source (e.g., fluid) t be propelled through the opening (36). The toy vehicle has an actuator (22) disposed adjacent the covering mechanism (20) operable for movement between a starting position and an actuating position. In the starting position, the actuator (22) allows the covering mechanism (20) to remain in the first position. In the actuating position, the actuator (22) moves the covering mechanism (20) to the second position. The toy vehicle (10) has a delay mechanism (24) operatively coupled to the actuator (22) configured to move the actuator to the actuating position after a delay or an interval.
