PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose an organic electroluminescence element having high luminous efficiency that can also be utilized as an illumination light source for improving the transmittance of light at the interface between an electrode in the organic electroluminescence element and a transparent substrate, by incorporating a structure having minute irregularities and a specific refractive index into the organic electroluminescence element, and to propose a manufacturing method of the organic electroluminescence element. SOLUTION: Fine irregularities are created on a transparent substrate, such as glass, by using a sol gel material and a nano imprint method. Further, the fine irregularities are coated with a material having a high refractive index. The surface is flattened to manufacture a composite substrate. A first electrode, an organic solid layer containing an organic luminescent material, and the first electrode are laminated on the composite substrate successively, thus manufacturing the organic electroluminescence element having high luminous efficiency.
