PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a server to accurately authenticate a user for an apparatus different from a client in response to a request from the client. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 10 provided with a readable identification code transmits the identification code to the server 15 in response to a request from the client 11. When the server 15 determines that the identification code is a regular code, the server 15 stores the transmission source IP address of a packet received from the apparatus 10, and when the server 15 determines that the transmission source IP address of a packet received from the client 11 coincides with the stored IP address, the server 15 receives a service request from the client 11.
