摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication apparatus to which a diffractive optical element is applied. SOLUTION: The authentication apparatus 100 is constituted to have an authentication means 20 provided with the diffractive optical element 1, and a diffracted light beam detector 80. An object 30 to be authenticated provided with a diffractive optical element 50 is positioned with respect to the authentication means 20, and the diffracted light from the diffractive optical element 1 by the incident light made incident on the diffraction face of the diffractive optical element 1 is made incident on the diffraction face of the diffractive optical element 50 and is detected by the diffracted light beam detector 80, thereby making possible the collation of the object 30 and the authentication means 20. The authentication means 20 has alignment marks 21, 22 at which the authentication means 20 performs positioning with respect to the authentication means 20 of the object 30, and the object 30 has alignment marks 31, 32 at which the object 30 performs positioning with respect to the authentication means 20 of the object 30.
