<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the chances of receiving digital paper service. <P>SOLUTION: An underlay 400 is used beneath a sheet 500 of paper. The underlay 400 is made from an absorber of infrared rays or terahertz electromagnetic waves, e.g., a carbon-free material. The underlay 400 is printed with a code image. The code image is printed using ink containing a color material that absorbs infrared rays or terahertz electromagnetic waves (e.g., carbon.)
