<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alignment film that is superior in adhesiveness to a film layer obtained by covering/polymerizing polymerizable liquid crystal molecules, and to provide an optical film. <P>SOLUTION: The alignment film is obtained by rubbing a film, comprising polyethyleneimines having a structural unit represented by Formula (I). The optical film is obtained by covering the alignment film with a polymer which imparts birefringence.
