<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a cover member disposed so as to cover the opening of a recording paper guide member, wherein the occurrence of operation noise due to vibration of the cover member during paper feed operation is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the recording paper guide member 15; and the cover member 16 screwed to the top of the recording paper guide member 15 so as to cover the opening in the rear of the recording paper guide member 15. Projections 15e are formed on the open end 15d of the inner lower face of the recording paper guide member 15. The lower end of the cover member 16 has positioning holes 16b, a step 16c extending substantially horizontal in the form of a rib, and abutting parts 16d tapering between the step 16c and the edge of the lower end. The cover member 16 is attached so that the projections 15e are fitted into the positioning holes 16b, the abutting parts 16d abut on the open end 15d, and parts on which the abutting parts 16d are formed are displaced backward and deformed.
