PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine, which makes the control for knock suppression corresponding to the dispersion of hot spots. SOLUTION: The control device of the internal combustion engine comprises: a heat generation detection means for detecting the heat generation for each of areas A1, A2, etc., to A8 in a combustion chamber 12 divided into a plurality of portions; an area specification means for specifying an area Amax having relatively large heat generation based of the detected heat generation; and a suppression control means for making the predetermined suppression control to suppress the heat generation of the specified area.
