PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing nickel nanoparticles free from flocculation and suitable as a filler for imparting magnetic properties, and to provide nickel nanoparticles having a mean primary particle diameter of≤50 nm produced by the method for producing nickel nanoparticles. SOLUTION: The method for producing nickel nanoparticles is characterized in that a reducing agent is added to a nickel aqueous solution containing nickel ions, polyvinyl pyrrolidinone, and amino alcohol in a quantity 1.2 to 1.8 times the molar quantity of the nickel ions, and the nickel ions contained in the nickel aqueous solution are reduced by the reducing agent to thereby produce nickel nanoparticles.
