PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an equipment cost required in piping or a residual chlorine detector while enhancing the safety of the water stored in a water tank. SOLUTION: The ON/OFF control of the electrolysis of an electrolytic means 1 is performed corresponding to the concentration of free residual chlorine measured by a measuring means 2 in the step of leading out the tap water stored in the water tank 105 and again returning the same through a circulation passage 11. That is, the concentration of free residual chlorine in the tap water in the water tank 105 is held to a predetermined range. Since this water quality control system of the water tank 105 is constituted so that the electrolytic means 1 and the measuring means 2 are provided to the circulation passage 11 for circulating the tap water stored in the water tank 105, the equipment cost required in the piping or the measurement of residual chlorine can be reduced. Further, since water is improved in its quality by electrolysis and returned to the water tank 105 even if there is abnormality in the quality of the tap water in the water tank 105, the intake situation of water having abnormality in quality is prevented.
