A liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal display panel having a plurality of pixels, and a backlight for outputting light to the liquid crystal display panel. The liquid crystal display panel is provided with a light reflecting element arranged in a reflection area, and a light diffusing element for diffusing light which is outputted from the backlight and passed through the liquid crystal layer of the light transmitting area, and light which is reflected by the light reflecting element and passed through the liquid crystal layer of the reflection area. Each of the light reflecting elements has a plurality of light reflecting surfaces each of which has a paraboloidal shape, and the focal point of the paraboloidal reflecting surface is positioned in the light diffusing element.
