<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline earth metal nitride having magnetism, in particular CaN and SrN. <P>SOLUTION: The calcium nitride having magnetism is characterized by having a heating step for heating α-Ca<SB>3</SB>N<SB>2</SB>above the temperature causing structural phase transition to β-Ca<SB>3</SB>N<SB>2</SB>, and a pressurizing step for pressurizing the β-Ca<SB>3</SB>N<SB>2</SB>obtained in the heating step at above the pressure causing decomposition to CaN which has a structure having magnetism and Ca. The manufacturing method of an alkaline earth metal nitride having magnetism is characterized by alternately laminating every one or two layers of gaseous A, N, A and elements of a material of the substrate on the substrate composed of a material selected from a semiconductor, a compound-semiconductor, an insulator and a metal which have each a lattice constant similar to that of AN and not causing the breakage of magnetism of AN, wherein A represents Ca or Sr, and N represents nitrogen.
