<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of optical compensation sheet which allows the hardening of a light diffusing layer after coating to quickly progress with good productivity while maintaining a satisfactory and stable coating property by preventing the thickening with lapse of time when applying a light diffusing layer coating solution, to provide an optical compensation sheet which is manufactured by the manufacturing method of optical compensation sheet and has excellent scratch resistance, solvent resistance and optical characteristics, and to provide a backlight unit for liquid crystal display device using the optical compensation sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of optical compensation sheet comprises a process of applying the light diffusing layer coating solution which contains fine particles and a resin having a hydroxide group valence of 10 to 100 on a substrate to form the light diffusing layer, wherein a crosslinking agent solution containing an isocyanate compound is added and mixed just before applying the light diffusion layer coating solution on the substrate. The optical compensation sheet is manufactured by the manufacturing method of the compensation sheet.
