<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling water treatment apparatus for sterilizing algae and bacteria by silver ions while suppressing a maintenance cost and certainly suppressing a growth of hard scales. <P>SOLUTION: The cooling water treatment apparatus is equipped with an algicidal and antibacteriocidal effect for supplying at least one of silver ions and copper ions having algicidal or bactericidal effect for supplying at least either one of silver ions and copper ions having an algicidal or bacteriocidal effect into cooling water along the downstream side of the flow of cooling water from the upstream of the flow of the cooling water and a rock filled member filled with a rock for adsorbing and gradually dissolving metal ions in cooling water.
