PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming apparatus and a liquid ejector which open and close the passage of a liquid container. SOLUTION: A packing member 154 of an atmospheric air release mechanism 132 is fixed by compression against the end surface of an atmospheric air release part 152 with the central axis b of an opening 153 being shifted in a predetermined direction relative to the central axis a of an opening 151. The end 160a of a slide block 160 which presses a ball 156 from outside is formed in an inclined-surface shape and disposed with its central axis being in alignment with the central axis a of the opening 151. The extreme tip 160b of the slide block 160 is located in a direction opposite to the direction of the shift of the packing member 154. Thus, when the slide block 160 presses the ball 156, it starts abutting against the ball 156 at a position opposite to the direction of the shift of the packing member 154.
