PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier for electrostatic latent image development and a developer for electrostatic latent image development forming high-quality images. SOLUTION: The carrier for electrostatic latent image development comprises a core particle and a resin covering layer covering the surface of the core particle, wherein the surface of the core particle has an average peak-to-valley interval Sm of Sm≤2.0μm and a surface roughness Ra (according to JISB0601) of Ra≥0.1μm, and the carrier for electrostatic latent image development has a surface roughness Ra (according to JISB0601) of Ra≤0.5μm and a circularity of≥0.075. The developer for electrostatic latent image development comprises a toner and a carrier, wherein the carrier is the above carrier for electrostatic latent image development.
