PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect a train even if a train circuit is long. SOLUTION: This train detection device not only transmits a predetermined train detection signal to one end side of a rail forming a train circuit but also enables to receive a signal from the other end side, thereby detecting no train when the transmitted predetermined train detection signal is received and detecting the presence of a train when the transmitted predetermined train detection signal is not received. While the predetermined time and the predetermined train detection signal are transmitted to one end side of the rail forming the train circuit, the train detection device can receive the received signal from the other end side of the rail. A transmit-receive switching device is installed in order to receive the received signal from the other end side of the rail while the predetermined time and the predetermined train detection signal are transmitted to the other end side of the rail after the predetermined time has elapsed.
