A three-dimensional map displaying system of a navigation device is provided to make it possible to display a realistic 3D bird-view, by using height information of a region to be projected at the converting time of coordinates. A height data unit(14) extracts height information about a corresponding region from polygon topographical data of a map data base, thereby storing average height information for a corresponding polygon. A 3D conversion unit(16) converts coordinates for 2D map display into coordinates for 3D bird-view map display using the central point of a vehicle as an original point. A height information adjusting unit(12) matches height information of the entire regions, which is obtained by the height data unit(14), to the converted coordinates, thereby obtaining the final coordinates for 3D bird-view display of the entire map. A CPU(10) transmits data from the height data unit(14) and the 3D conversion unit(16) to the height information adjusting unit(12), and displays the 3D-converted data through a displaying unit. |
