IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device that ensures high image quality such that color shift is within a permissible limit, and to provide an image forming apparatus having the image processing device.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a plurality of process units 11 to 14 for forming images on their respective image forming bodies; a secondary transfer roller 28 for transferring images formed by the process units 11 to 14 to a recording sheet 3; a first conveyance roller 50 for conveying the recording sheet 3 to the secondary transfer roller 28; a color shift detection sensor 36 for detecting relative color shifts between images formed by the process units 11 to 14; and a speed control means for controlling at least the drive speed of the first conveyance roller 50 or secondary transfer roller 28 according to color shift information detected by a color shift detection sensor 36. The apparatus is capable of eliminating color shift caused by a speed change in the paper drive motor or belt drive motor affected by a recording sheet.
