PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve concentrating units and a system by installing the processing devices substantially vertically and setting at least a part extending into a range of the processing device in a tow guiding section make an angle to horizon, especially setting as almost vertical. SOLUTION: The concentrating unit for concentrating at least a filter tow strip (8) for producing filter of a smoking article such as a cigarette, is provided with at least one tow guiding section in which the filter tow strip (8) shifts on the longitudinal extending direction along the tow guiding section, and processing devices (12, 14, 16, 24, 26) linked to the tow guiding section which processes the filter tow strip (8). At least a part extending into a range of the processing devices (12, 14, 16, 24, 26) of the tow guiding section is set to make an angle to horizon, especially set as almost vertically, because the processing devices (12, 14, 16, 24, 26) are substantially vertically installed.
