PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication terminal which enables a user to easily recognize contents of character information when displaying also the character information also in a telop form during display of an image or the like. SOLUTION: A control section 190 displays a broadcast received by a TV tuner section 180 on a display section 130 and the received character information such as electronic mail is displayed in the telop form in matching with the video image of the broadcast. When the display direction of the video image is a longitudinal direction, a width of a display area of the character information in the longitudinal direction is narrower than a width of a display area of the character information in the lateral direction. That is, when the display direction is the longitudinal direction, the number of displayable characters is smaller than that when the display direction is the lateral direction. The control section 190 therefore slows down the moving speed of the displayed characters when the display direction is the longitudinal direction relatively in comparison with the lateral display direction.
