PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device allowing high closeness to be provided while controlling, to some extent, an application amount and an application position of a joining member in a part adjacent to a substrate in a place with support body pieces combined with each other in a division type support body, and improved in quality and reliability. SOLUTION: This image display device is provided with: a front substrate having a positive electrode and a phosphor on the inside surface; a back substrate having a plurality of electron sources on the inside surface, and facing to the front substrate at a predetermined distance; a frame-like support body inserted by circulating a display region between the front substrate and the back substrate for keeping the predetermined distance; and a sealing member for respectively airtightly sealing end surfaces of the support body, the front substrate and the back substrate. The support body comprises an assembly of a plurality of support body pieces, round chamfered parts 13R are formed on the respective side parts of the support body piece combination joining surfaces, and the joining member FG is interlaid between the joining surfaces 13P of the respective support pieces to airtightly join them to each other, whereby change of the application amount and the application position of the joining member FG can be handled.
