PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker for easy driving of a latch member for tripping when an overcurrent flows. SOLUTION: The circuit breaker comprises a contact pressure spring 46 that applies a contact pressure to a contact point 30, a pole opening spring 49 that biases, in pole opening direction, a cross bar 44 holding a movable contact piece 22, a link mechanism 10 that contacts/separates the contact point 30 by transmitting rotational operation of a handle 42 to the cross bar 44, a latch plate 47 that holds balancing of the link mechanism 10 in a state that the energy is accumulated for breaking balance of the link mechanism 10 due to the contact pressure spring 46 and the pole opening spring 49, an overcurrent cut-off mechanism (electromagnetic releasing device 50 and thermomotive releasing device 60) for forcedly opening a pole of the conduct point 30 by driving the latch plate 47 to break balancing of the link mechanism 10 when an overcurrent flows the contact point 30, and a holding spring 58 having the energy weaker than that of the contact pressure spring 46 and the pole opening spring 49 and energizing the link mechanism 10 in the direction opposite to that of the contact pressure spring 46 and the pole opening spring 49.
