PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining an image with rich gloss even when equipped with only a developing means for colored toner. SOLUTION: In an office mode, toner images are primarily transferred to an intermediate belt 30 in such a manner that the colors of Y, M, C, and K are laminated sequentially from the intermediate belt 30. In a photo mode, toner of black (K) is replaced with transparent toner (T) and the color order of toner images to be transferred to the intermediate belt 30 is changed. Consequently, toner images having primarily been transferred to the intermediate transfer belt 30 are T, Y, M, and C sequentially from the side of the belt 30. When the toner images are secondarily transferred to a recording form, the transparent toner forms an outside layer of the toner images and the colored toner images are covered with the transparent toner.
