PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EGR temperature control device of an internal combustion engine capable of reducing NOx and noxious gas, and enhancing the fuel economy and the combustion stability by optimally controlling the air intake temperature by heating an EGR gas to be introduced in the cylinder direct injection type internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: The EGR temperature control device comprises an EGR pipe for introducing an exhaust gas from an exhaust pipe to an air intake pipe, an EGR valve for regulating the introduction amount of an EGR gas, a heating means 15 for heating the EGR gas, an exhaust gas temperature sensor 16 for detecting the EGR temperature Tegr, a new air temperature sensor 19 for detecting the new air temperature Tair, an air flow sensor 18 for detecting the new air flow rate Qair, a temperature control means 37 for controlling the air intake temperature Tin, an air intake temperature calculation means 31 for calculating the air intake temperature Tin, and an air intake temperature setting means 35 for determining the optimum air intake temperature Tbest at which the fuel economy is enhanced, and the combustion stability is excellent as the set temperature.
