PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device provided with a mechanism for suppressing twisting of a main rope by an earthquake or the like during stopping of a car. SOLUTION: The elevator device is provided with the car 6; a car side guide rail 7 for lifting/guiding the car; a balance weight 9; a weight side guide rail 10 for lifting/guiding the balance weight; a suspension means 5 for suspending the car and the balance weight; and a winding machine 3 wound with the suspension means. The device is provided with a car restriction device 12 provided on the car and restricting displacement in a vertical direction of the car during stopping; and a balance weight restriction device 13 provided on the balance weight and restricting displacement in a vertical direction of the balance weight during stopping.
