PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an image recording apparatus which can record for a long time without using a high-capacity image recording apparatus and can always secure a fixed recording time. SOLUTION: A plurality of images to be output from an imaging part 11 in time series within the prescribed time are stored an image temporary storage 12. The respective characteristics of images stored in the image temporary storage 12 are in a feature storage 13. At least one image is selected based on the feature quantity in an image selector 14, and the image is stored the image in the image storage 16. Consequently, the recording at a low frame rate which selects an effective image is attained, and the recording for a long time is attained. Since at least one image of a plurality of images stored in the image temporary storage 12 for every prescribed time is stored in the image storage 16, the recording is attained for a long time.
